The Bible

The Bible is God's Word to all people. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian believers. Because it is the living and inspired Word of God, it is truth without any mixture of error.

God

There is one true God, eternally existing in Trinitarian form: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three roles are co-equal and are one God.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a perfect life and offered Himself as the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He went back to heaven and will return again to earth to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.

The Church

The church, locally and universally, is an organic group of followers of Jesus Christ that have received salvation, been baptized, and are gathered according to the teachings of the New Testament. The church, Christ being the Cornerstone, is a funnel of hope to the lost that functions through prayer, evangelism, fellowship, and Biblical teaching.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He, as the "Spirit of God," also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His controlling presence daily.

Humans

-

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. We are the supreme object of God's creation. Although we have tremendous potential for good, we are hindered by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin. Because of this totally depraved nature, this condition separates man from God.

Salvation

-

Salvation is a gift from God to people. People can never make up for their sins through self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can people be saved from sin's penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into their life by faith.

Eternal Security

Because God gives people eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

Eternity

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of literal, eternal existence.

Church Leadership

Dublin Bible Church adheres to the Elder-led model for a number of reasons. The first reason is that we believe it most closely follows the New Testament pattern for church leadership. Scripture throughout the Epistles contains instructions about this form of leadership. In addition, a plurality of Elders helps protect against heresy, false teaching, pride, and the unqualified. Finally, since different Elders have different gifts, a wide range of ideas and wise counsel are brought into each discussion. The qualifications for

Elders are found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-16.

Marriage

-

We believe that marriage between a man and woman was established by God, Genesis 2:4-25; affirmed by Jesus, Matthew 19:4-6; and elaborated on as a display of the Gospel, Ephesians 5:22-36. So to redefine marriage would be a hindrance to the Gospel. 

Jesus was the perfect example of grace and truth, and we will strive to be that in a hurting world. Jesus could have made a point by simply pointing out other people's flaws and sins, but He made a difference in this world because He met people where they were, but He didn't allow them to stay there.
